Analytics

NeonKey uses Umami (opens in new tab) for privacy-friendly analytics. Umami doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal data and doesn't track you across sites. It records anonymous page views and a few button clicks (for example newsletter signups and service enquiries) so I can see what's useful. Blocking the script won't break anything on the site.

Newsletter

Unlock the Week is sent with Kit (opens in new tab) (formerly ConvertKit), which processes subscriber data on NeonKey's behalf. When you subscribe, your email address goes straight to Kit. Kit stores it along with basic sign-up and delivery data, such as when and where you signed up and whether an issue was delivered, opened or clicked.

Your email is used only to send the newsletter and is never sold. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask for your data to be deleted at any time by emailing hello@neonkey.tech.

Contact

The contact form is delivered by Web3Forms (opens in new tab), which passes your name, email, topic and message to hello@neonkey.tech. Messages, whether sent through the form or by email, are kept only as long as needed to reply and are never sold.

AI inquiry triage demo (Lab)

The AI inquiry triage demo sends the text you type to a small NeonKey API running on Cloudflare Workers. The API forwards it to Google's Gemini API (opens in new tab) to generate the result, then returns the result to your browser. NeonKey doesn't store or log the message or the result.

The demo uses Gemini's free tier. Under Google's terms, content sent on the free tier may be used by Google to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it. Please don't paste private, sensitive or personal information into the demo. Because of those terms, the demo isn't available in the UK, Switzerland or the EEA.

To enforce rate limits (5 runs a minute and 30 a day per visitor, plus a daily total), the API keeps short-lived counters in Cloudflare: a one-way hash of your IP address with the date, and a run count. The counters expire after 48 hours. Cloudflare, as the host, may also process standard request data such as your IP address; see Cloudflare's privacy policy (opens in new tab).

Service quiz

The "What service do I need?" quiz works out your result in your browser. Your answers aren't sent anywhere unless you ask for your plan by email.

If you do, your email address, optional first name and quiz answers are sent to NeonKey through a small API on Cloudflare Workers to prepare your plan. The plan is emailed to you once through Resend (opens in new tab), NeonKey's email delivery provider, and a copy with your email and answers is sent to NeonKey at hello@neonkey.tech so I can prepare and follow up if you reply. That copy is kept only as long as needed and is never sold. You're only added to the newsletter if you tick the newsletter box; then Kit sends you a confirmation email first (see Newsletter above).

To limit abuse, the API keeps short-lived counters in Cloudflare: a one-way hash of your IP address with the date, a one-way hash of your email address (so the same address can't be sent more than one plan a day), and a daily total. These expire after about 24 hours, and your answers aren't stored there. To have your quiz data deleted, email hello@neonkey.tech.

Cookies

NeonKey itself sets no cookies. Affiliate links may lead to retailer sites that set their own cookies; see the disclosure.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (opens in new tab). Like any web host, GitHub may process standard request data such as your IP address to serve and secure the site.

Your choices

To ask what data NeonKey holds about you, or to have it deleted, email hello@neonkey.tech.
